Danielle Murphy is a Rehabilitation Counsellor and ADHD and Neurodiversity Coach with more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals experiencing injury, illness, disability and complex life transitions. Her work spans vocational rehabilitation, psychosocial recovery, and neurodivergent coaching, with a strong focus on person-centred and strengths-based practice. Danielle has extensive experience supporting veterans, injured workers and individuals navigating significant adjustment following injury or illness, assisting them to rebuild identity, participation and independence.
Danielle works within a biopsychosocial framework and has a particular interest in supporting clients to explore the often-overlooked aspects of wellbeing that influence recovery and quality of life, including sexuality, relationships and intimacy. She integrates trauma-informed and disability-affirming approaches into her counselling work, recognising the intersection of health, identity, culture and lived experience in shaping a person’s sexual health and wellbeing.
In addition to her rehabilitation counselling practice, Danielle has undertaken specialised training in sexuality and disability, including Sexuality and Pain, Sexuality and Back Conditions, Sex, Relationships and Trauma, and Sexual Attitude Reassessment (SAR) training. Her professional work frequently involves supporting clients to navigate complex issues relating to identity, relationships, adjustment to disability, and rebuilding confidence following life-changing events.
Through this workshop, Danielle brings practical clinical insights into how Rehabilitation Counsellors can ethically and confidently incorporate sexuality into holistic rehabilitation practice. She is particularly interested in equipping practitioners with the ability to support respectful, person-centred conversations about sexual health, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and recognising when specialist referral is required.
