Torsten Becht

Torsten began his career in physiotherapy and sports medicine before moving into occupational rehabilitation, working across WorkCover Queensland, the Department of Defence, and Suncorp. He has experience in workers compensation, income protection and disability insurance, and holds a Masters in Human Services (Rehabilitation Counselling).

Over the past 15 years, Torsten has worked in senior HR roles across healthcare and aged care, leading areas including risk, governance, people strategy, and wellbeing programs. He joined the ASORC Board in 2025 and has previously held leadership roles with RCAA and community organisations.
Prof Nicholas Buys

Professor Nicholas Buys is Director of the RISE Research Unit, focusing on workplace health and employee outcomes. He previously served as Dean (Learning & Teaching) at Griffith University, leading major initiatives in student success, retention and access.

With a background in rehabilitation counselling across public and private sectors, Nick has secured significant research funding and authored over 250 publications. He joined the ASORC Board in 2023 following the ASORC/RCAA merger.
Dr Boris Fedoric

Boris is a Professional Member, National President and the Chair of Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors. He is also a Professional Member of Career Development Association of Australia and a Senior Visiting Lecturer at the University of Adelaide. His professional goal is to improve vocational rehabilitation through provision of best practice service, innovation and technology. As such, Boris designed numerous unique services and products to improve RTW outcomes, namely WorkGain and software application TaskAlyser. His areas of specialisation are complex physical and psychological injuries with medico-legal barriers and mediation needs. Boris is a researcher with the University of Adelaide, and regularly contributes to peer publications, grant funded research and has been an invited speaker on injury management principles, vocational assessments, early intervention, biopsychosocial rehabilitation and psychosocial factors. He always strives to give back to the profession and as such Boris regularly supervises students from various Allied Health areas of practice. He also practices in Serbian/Croatian languages. Boris’ qualifications include a Masters of Human Services (Rehabilitation Counselling) through Griffith University; a PhD in Transplantation Immunology (Medicine) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) through the School of Medicine, University of Adelaide; and a Bachelor of Biotechnology through University of Adelaide. He is also a nationally qualified Mediator and Pain Educator. Boris has been a Director of Career Bug Pty Ltd since 2015, WorkGain since 2017 and TaskAlyser since 2019. Prior to starting at Career Bug, he was a General Manager at a National Rehabilitation firm in Adelaide from 2012-2015 and also worked at EML in case management and team leader functions.

Alexa is a Rehab Counsellor who has dedicated her career to working to support injured workers and disabled persons to achieve their employment goals. Her strengths are in technical knowledge of insurance schemes, vocational counselling and assessment, and coaching of allied health staff in order to achieve durable return to work outcomes for individuals, employers, and insurers.

As an NDIS participant with an incomplete spinal cord injury a wheelchair user and service dog handler, Alexa brings a unique perspective when working with clients with chronic injuries and acquired disabilities.
Danielle Murphy

Danielle Murphy is a Rehabilitation Counsellor and ADHD and Neurodiversity Coach with more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals experiencing injury, illness, disability and complex life transitions. Her work spans vocational rehabilitation, psychosocial recovery, and neurodivergent coaching, with a strong focus on person-centred and strengths-based practice. Danielle has extensive experience supporting veterans, injured workers and individuals navigating significant adjustment following injury or illness, assisting them to rebuild identity, participation and independence.
Danielle works within a biopsychosocial framework and has a particular interest in supporting clients to explore the often-overlooked aspects of wellbeing that influence recovery and quality of life, including sexuality, relationships and intimacy. She integrates trauma-informed and disability-affirming approaches into her counselling work, recognising the intersection of health, identity, culture and lived experience in shaping a person’s sexual health and wellbeing.
In addition to her rehabilitation counselling practice, Danielle has undertaken specialised training in sexuality and disability, including Sexuality and Pain, Sexuality and Back Conditions, Sex, Relationships and Trauma, and Sexual Attitude Reassessment (SAR) training. Her professional work frequently involves supporting clients to navigate complex issues relating to identity, relationships, adjustment to disability, and rebuilding confidence following life-changing events.
Through this workshop, Danielle brings practical clinical insights into how Rehabilitation Counsellors can ethically and confidently incorporate sexuality into holistic rehabilitation practice. She is particularly interested in equipping practitioners with the ability to support respectful, person-centred conversations about sexual health, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and recognising when specialist referral is required.
Dr Roxanna Pebdani

Associate Professor Roxanna Nasseri Pebdani, PhD, CRC, SFHEA, (she/her) is a Neurodivergent rehabilitation counsellor and counsellor educator who holds multiple leadership roles in the Sydney School of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney. Dr. Pebdani’s research interests are in access to sex, sexuality, pregnancy and parenting for individuals with disability. She has authored or co-authored over 60 journal articles, book chapters, and reports and has conducted over 60 presentations at local, national, and international conferences. Dr Pebdani teaches courses on sexuality and disability, intersectionality and disability, and gender and intersectionality in health and exercise. She is on the board of the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors. She is a mother of two and an avid runner and cyclist.
Dr Christine Randall

Dr Christine Randall is an Associate Professor and Postgraduate Program Director in Rehabilitation Counselling and Human Services. She is a leader in education and workforce development, with a focus on work-integrated learning, professional identity, and interprofessional practice.

Christine’s research spans occupational rehabilitation systems, workplace stress, and disability management. A founding director and former President of RCAA, she played a key role in its merger with ASORC. She is currently Vice President of ASORC.
Peta Siggers

Peta Siggers is an Australian Army veteran and discipline qualified Rehabilitation Counsellor with postgraduate qualifications in rehabilitation counselling, addiction studies, suicidology and career development. Peta is an ASORC Director and is completing a Master of Public Health and a Master of Health Research. Peta’s practice centres on culturally aware, trauma informed rehabilitation shaped by lived experience of ADF culture and frontline service delivery.
Peta has supervised postgraduate students in Rehabilitation Counselling, contributing to capability development across the profession. Peta’s work focuses on strengthening cultural competence in rehabilitation practice, particularly for those supporting veterans and emergency services, and improving safe, meaningful engagement across intersecting systems
Scott Trevithick

Scott is a Recovery Claims Specialist with WorkSafe Victoria, with extensive experience across rehabilitation counselling and psychological injury in Australia and the UK. His background spans workers’ compensation, life insurance, CTP, and employer-funded healthcare.

An ASORC member since 2000, Scott joined the Board in 2019 and serves as Company Secretary.
